Left Heart Catherization
This procedure is also known as coronary angiography. It is performed in the hospital to diagnose and treat coronary artery disease. A tube is inserted in the groin or wrist and a special dye is used to take pictures of the arteries that supply the heart muscle. During this procedure, a cardiac stent may be used. A stent is used to treat narrowing or blockage to improve blood flow to the heart muscle.
